Though Shishper glacier is not that much famous glacier, however, it has earned its name since the last year. The melting glacier is a common phenomenon in the last few years due to global warming. On the other hand, Shishper glacier has taken the lead against this climatic misery. Looks like it has pledged to herself that I could not be swallowed by some ugly gases. From the last year, Shishper glacier has started its expedition upward and forward and ascended to about 180 feet from its previous position. Shishper glacier is located in the west of central Hunza which is about four kilometers to access.
High Altitude Trek
It was a calm and clear sunny day a good opportunity to chill with nature. So wrangler took the day’s opportunity to measure the shishper glacier length on foot. From Aliabad we started our high altitude trek via Hassanabad water channel. A channel which fetches water near from glacier to central Hunza. Which is dug in through the rock in the nineties and believe me that is on a considerable height. Whenever you look down your knees starts to shake, this is could be a good test of acrophobia to person. While we took a rest a tunnel dug through a hill, that is wonderful this seems how the Hunzas had struggled hard to overcome the water crisis.
Glacier Dabris Echo

It took one and half hour to reach the glacier. When you stand near to the glacier your heart beats faster due to the mighty height it has ascended to. Every moment the glacier debris breaks away making a huge echo in the ravine creating a terror that of the mighty avalanche has just slid down. We trek on the glacier for about one hour though, it was risky. After that, we turned back due to trough and the trail is very difficult to do Trek.
Black Tea

We returned to the abandoned hut where the watchman used to live to keep a check on water flow. There we took a rest and enjoyed a good tea at the glacier with chapatti. The weather is much colder at the glacier. A very few visitors came here to do the trek and just because of the expansion of the glacier. Local people take their cattle the pastures via the shishper glacier. Now the ordeal of the people is that the glacier movement has completely blocked the pass to the pastures.
Anyhow, we made our way back after adventuring and exploring the glacier. This made our day, to have such breathtaking exploration the of the glacier and very easy to access.
